Pozzo Lambert
Completion of innovations for the enhancement of the Ingurtosu Mine
The Lambert Shaft, built in 1900, is located near the Brassey Washery, along the road that connects Ingurtosu to the spectacular dunes of Piscinas.
It constitutes the completion of the innovations introduced by Thomas Alnutt Brassey with investments for the enhancement of the Ingurtosu Mine, within the framework of the company he purchased.
At the same time, it became necessary to extend the concession title to the extraction of zinc minerals, of which the Brassey vein was truly rich.
Consequently, at the Piscinas mining yard it became necessary to build a new warehouse in addition to the one that housed the lead minerals awaiting loading on the scales: the Blenda warehouse.
Dedicated to the chief engineer Angelo Lambert, the shaft played a crucial role in the cultivation of the western section of the Brassey vein, an important mineral vein that extended for about seven kilometers reaching right into the area of the Washery.
This metallogenic line connected various mining sites, creating a complex system that linked the concessions of Ingurtosu and Gennamari to those of Montevecchio, through structures such as the Gal Shaft, the Shaft 92 and the Amsicora Shaft.
